Considering the physical therapy assistant pay rate in therapy offices, pursuing a career as a pta has never looked better. Most physical therapist assistants make over $25 an hour in the US. This is a career most people can get out of high school and attend a two year program and then practice as a PTA and make the same kind of mony that someone with a four year degree can make. Plus as a PTA you are a valuable resource to the physical therapy office. Your knowledge and ability to help patients recover from their injuries is also an element to provide some job satisfaction besides the amount of physical therapy assistant pay rate that you will command as a pta.
The pay rate for physical therapist assistant work is only going to improve over time. You must consider the fact that a pta provides great therapy service to patients while not costing as much as a Physical Therapist. So a therapy office can make a higher profit paying a physical therapy assistant pay rate and the patient still gets great care. And the United States has a demographic fact that proves that the population is getting older. With all the baby boomers getting into their golder years, they are needing more and more therapy. We see this everyday in the therapy offices.
A good pta is hard to come by because they are in such demand in most areas. Many physical therapist assistants I know personally have simply walked into a pt office and asked if they needed a pta. Both of them were hired on the spot to begin work the following week. I don’t know about your experience, but I’ve never walked into a place of business and asked for a job and then was hired making over $50,000 per year. That seems a little outrageous to me, but this does happen and it must be due to the fact that a reliable PTA is hard to come by.
So this kind of need does facilitate the kind of physical therapy assistant pay rate that we are seeing currently. So if you don’t want to get a four year degree, but do want to make a great physical therapy assistant pay rate this may be the career for you. It will take a couple years to finish the program, but that is not long for the pay rate for physical therapist assistant that you will enjoy.
